Asheville Glass Artist To Create Windows For New Greensboro Venue

GREENSBORO — An Asheville artist will create colorful new windows for the Van Dyke Performance Space in downtown Greensboro. Come next summer, Carl Powell’s seven artistically designed stained-glass windows, illuminated with LED lighting, will decorate the brick exterior of the new venue in the Greensboro Cultural Center.

GREENSBORO — Local modern dance virtuoso Jan Van Dyke long had sought a community venue appropriate for presenting the art form to smaller audiences.

Van Dyke envisioned a space without pillars or poles, with a shock-absorbing floor that gives it a softer feel. She wanted sightlines that let audiences see dancers’ feet.
